The Specialisation Course in Early Childhood Education aims to provide opportunities for continuing professional development through the updating and enhancement of teachers working in the first stage of Basic Education, whether in crèches, nursery schools, or other early childhood education institutions. Although this is not the first initiative by the Federal University of Alagoas to offer Specialisation Courses in the field, it seeks to address a longstanding need identified by the Alagoas Forum in Defence of Early Childhood Education (FADEDI), as well as recommendations from research carried out particularly by the research groups GEPPECI (Group for Studies and Research in Pedagogies and Childhood Cultures) and GPEIDH (Research Group on Early Childhood Education and Human Development), both affiliated with UFAL. The course aims to qualify professionals to deliver early childhood education that respects the fundamental rights of children and their families, and to foster pedagogical practices that are attentive to listening and to organisational forms linked to Childhood Pedagogies.
