Plagiarism; self-plagiarism; authorship; thesis; scientific misconduct.
This is a study on publications that report plagiarism and self-plagiarism in national and
international scientific articles through an integrative review from 2018 to 2022. Publications were
searched in PubMed, BSV and SciELO databases, with the exact descriptors plagiarism AND self-
plagiarism. The results of the articles that make up this review showed that easy access to online
information with the rapid growth of the internet, the development of technology aligned with cases of
misconduct in scientific production, increased considerably in the creation and adulteration of data,
insertion of authors who did not participate in the study and plagiarism. Among the most frequent
misconducts are plagiarism and selfplagiarism present in the most diverse levels of education from
basic education to higher education.
