Fingerprint analysis is an essential tool for human identification and criminal investigation. In this study, AgInS₂
quantum dots were synthesized by an optimized electrochemical method and applied to the development of latent
fingerprints. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized by solid-state spectrofluorimetry and Fourier-transform
infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The efficiency of the material was evaluated in the visualization of aged fingerprints
with different deposition times and on various surfaces using the powder-dusting technique, showing high sensitivity and contrast due to the fluorescent properties of the quantum dots.
