This research aims to understand the factors that relate to the permanence of trans and transvestites in higher education. It also aims to analyze the difficulties encountered by them at the university, understand the coping tools used by this group in the face of existing difficulties and analyze whether the immersion of this population in higher education has produced tools of empowerment and social transformation for this community. To this end, we will invite trans and transvestites who are in higher education in order to think about the limits and challenges of insertion in this space. Contact will be based on active searches in Brazilian universities and in groups of LGBTQIA+ movements; and publicity on social media. Our dialogue will be based on an exchange of letters with trans people and transvestites who will write about their different experiences in higher education, their challenges, the limits encountered, but also about the resistances and the affirmation of knowledge produced by them in the academy. . To address this discussion, we will resort to queer theory and relate it to trans-localized knowledge that allow us to think about research produced in, and directed towards, the global south. Finally, it is necessary to highlight that trans people and transvestites face many challenges in educational environments, but despite this, these environments can be favorable for the dismantling of the heteronorm that tries to erase trans subjectivities. Therefore, it is necessary to understand what strategies are being produced by them in order to combat the difficulties encountered given the absence of specific policies for this group regarding permanence in the university.
