SUMMARY:

Violence against children and adolescents is a serious public health and human rights problem. The high rates of violence against children and adolescents in the country reinforce the importance of giving visibility to the issue and the urgent need to build actions to prevent and combat violence. In this sense, it is essential to engage the child and adolescent protection network in order to transform this reality. The school is therefore an important space for building actions to tackle this problem. The general aim of this project is to analyze strategies  for preventing violence against children and adolescents among education professionals. And the specific objectives are: to understand the meanings of violence against children and adolescents for education professionals; to analyze the prevention products about violence against children and adolescents produced by education professionals. This is an action research with a qualitative approach and interventional methodology, with five workshops. To date, four workshops to prevent violence against children and adolescents have been held with the participation of 29 education professionals in a public school in the city of Maceió/AL. For data collection, the following instruments were used: two questionnaires, one on the socioeconomic profile and the other with questions about knowledge of the topic; Procedure Drawing-Story with Theme; field diaries; audio recording of workshops; photography of the workshops and productions of professionals. In the first workshop on welcoming and listening to violence, it was possible to identify, through the thematic drawings, that intrafamily and physical violence were the most represented. The second workshop, which was informative in nature, sought to present information on violence against children and adolescents and the Protection Network available in the state of Alagoas, and the professionals shared the difficulty of knowing how to proceed in cases of violence, as well as reporting feelings of concern when it came to notifying any competent body. The third workshop focused on discussion and management, using two case studies on violence, and it was possible to see that the professionals were able to identify the type of violence, but felt unprepared to receive and refer cases. In the fourth workshop, the professionals created coping projects for cases of violence and understood the role of the school as a protection network and the need to work together with the whole network, as well as thinking about actions to bring family members and the territory closer together to tackle violence. So far, it has been possible to see the importance of the discussions that have been generated, making it possible to demystify concepts about violence, as well as providing guidance on how to proceed in these situations. There is a need for  ongoing actions to help schools prevent violence against children and adolescents.
