SUMMARY:

The bankruptcy and closure of sugar and alcohol manufacturing plants in the Zona da Mata in Alagoas led to the availability of approximately 100 (one hundred) thousand hectares of land for small and medium producers, previously cultivated with sugarcane, to be used with other crops. agricultural And, at that moment, the production of grains such as corn, beans, soy and / or peanuts are promising alternatives. In the Zona da Mata Alagoana, soy production, which is currently the most important agricultural commodity in Brazilian agribusiness, is inexpressive. The main reason for the lack of interest in the cultivation of this agricultural culture is the lack of knowledge of cultivation techniques, production potential and cultivars adapted to the environmental characteristics of the region. For this reason, in order to analyze the development, growth and productivity of agricultural crops aimed at grain production in the Zona da Mata in Alagoas and to calibrate models such as AquaCrop for crop forecasting based on regional edaphic and climatic resources, they will be installed two field experiments at the Agricultural Sciences Campus (CECA) of the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL): one irrigated, during the dry season, and another in rainfed season in the region's rainy season. The experimental design used was in randomized blocks with five replications, treatments will be soybean cultivars. The management of irrigation was based on the 10-year water balance of the crop made by the method of Thorntwaite and Mather (1957), with meteorological data of rainfall (P), air temperature (T), relative humidity (UR) and evapotranspiration of reference (ETo) provided by the Irrigation and Agrometeorology Laboratory (LIA) of CECA / UFAL. The variables analyzed in the two experiments were: development (duration of the phenological phases), growth (based on the height of the vegetative canopy, length of branches and leaf area index) and the production components. The results of these experiments should indicate which are the best soybean cultivars to be planted in the region of Rio Largo, AL.
