SUMMARY:

Collaborative project-based learning (CPjBL) is a methodology that, when properly planned and well executed, activates student protagonism and can provide the development of skills and abilities that support innovation, including creativity, critical thinking and problem solving. According to the literature, the formation stage is of vital importance for the performance of the group (Isotani, 2009), and this is an area of study that attracts different scientific contributions over the years. The task of grouping becomes difficult as the number of students increases and also when the criteria increase, which can negatively affect student motivation, communication and engagement when these criteria are not properly applied. This scenario should be avoided considering that the purpose of group training is to obtain “high performance” using CPjBL. High performance in this work is understood to be
collaborative production that is effective, the term "effective" here being a reference to the proper allocation of resources to enhance the learning process, both individually and collectively as a group. Thus, the question that guides this research work is: How to group students in order to obtain a high performance of the groups in CPjBL? To answer this question, the research lists as a general objective: to develop an authoring tool for the formation of high performance groups in CPjBL. For this, the specific objectives are listed: 1 - Characterize the state of the art of CPjBL using Agile Methods; 2 - Plan, execute and monitor modeled experiments based on bibliographic data collected on different forms of group formation and use of agile methods for project management; 3 - Analyze the collection
data and interpret in the light of the literature; 4 - Propose criteria for the FGAD according to the experiments carried out; 5 - Model the authoring tool. As for the methodology, the method chosen to carry out this work was Design Science Research - DSR, considering that it enables a rapprochement between theory and practice, and according to Dresch et al. (2015) is the epistemological basis when it comes to the study of what is artificial and its development - In our case, the artificial is the authoring tool for forming high-performance groups in CPjBL. As for the preliminary results, three moments are highlighted: 1 - Literature review of the work “Group Formation and Agile Methods in Project-Based Collaborative Learning: A Systematic Review of Individual Characteristics to Define Team Members.” 2 - Description of the collaborative study that resulted in the article “Assessing the Formation of Groups for Project-Based Collaborative Learning in Teaching Biodiversity”; and 3 - Description of the group formation experiment with the night degree mathematics class as part of the supervised internship in higher education teaching.
