SUMMARY:

The general objective of the dissertation is to know the production of knowledge about literacy and literacy in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in theses and dissertations, in the Postgraduate Programs in Education of the Federal Universities of the Northeast, in the period from 2010 to 2021. The investigation started from the following problem: what are the main concepts, theoretical-methodological tendencies and recurrent authors of literacy and literacy in EJA in theses and dissertations in Postgraduate Programs in Education in the Northeast? This issue unfolds into the following questions: which Graduate Programs in Education in the Northeast are included in studies on literacy and literacy? In which Lines of Research? What are the concepts, theoretical-methodological tendencies and recurrent authors of these theses and dissertations? To achieve the objective of the investigation and 'answer' the questions, we used the quantitative and qualitative approach (GATTI, 2002), with deepening in the bibliographical research (LIMA; MIOTO, 2007) and documental analysis (ANDRE; LÜDKE, 1982). The Capes theses and dissertations catalog was our research locus and gave us conditions to gather the corpora from this investigation. In the course still unfinished, the study has been showing the close relationship between literacy and literacy and the significant influence of Magda Soares' writings in that area
