This doctoral dissertation seeks to investigate the potential of hybrid educational methodologies for a better understanding of topics of interest in the field of Natural Sciences in the context of public schools in the State Education Network of Alagoas (REEAL). From this central interest, two other aspects emerged and equally mobilized this investigation. First, what are the concepts and practices of Blended Learning (BL) carried out within the scope of REEAL? Second, how do teachers, students, and their families assess the possibilities and limitations of incorporating Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) and BL in public schools? This is mostly a qualitative, descriptive study, whose subjects were 21 (twenty-one) teachers, 16 (sixteen) students, and 20 (twenty) family members of students from REEAL school communities located in the city of Maceió (AL). Regarding its procedures, this study was configured as a research-training, as it was mainly developed in the context of training on BL offered to participating teachers. Among the initial results of the research, it was possible to identify that among the participating teachers, students, and their family members, there is a majority understanding that the incorporation of DICT in education is beneficial for learning, although care must be taken to ensure that such resources do not end up being distracting factors in class. On the other hand, when it comes to BL, it was also possible to identify that the students' relatives are unaware of its meaning, while students and teachers share a superficial understanding that BL is simply a mix of face-to-face and online teaching practices. Based on these preliminary results, we will continue this research by developing new discussions regarding the processes of incorporating DICT in public schools, especially in the context of BL practices. With the conclusion of this research, it is intended to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the potential of hybrid educational approaches, expanding their epistemological horizons (theoretical and practical).
