Childhood memories of former residents of Pinheiro: a neighborhood in ruins in the city of Maceió, AL
Childhoods; Right to the city; Memoirs; Education.
The ongoing master's research aims to understand the construction of memory as a political instrument based on the case of the subsidence of the soil caused by the environmental disaster caused by a mining company in a central neighborhood of Maceió, Alagoas. It starts from the principle that the territories are remarkable in the historical construction and are a constructive part of people's affective memories. We propose an investigation into the childhood memories of people who previously lived in a neighborhood that ceased to exist, due to the environmental catastrophe caused by the actions of the mining company Braskem, especially in the Pinheiro neighborhood, located in Maceió, capital of Alagoas. This is a qualitative research, based on the narrative approach, using semi-structured interviews as instruments for data construction based on the methodology of the Museum of the Person. The interviews will be carried out with adults who lived in the affected places, having questions in the context of their childhood memories. Based on the contributions of Marcia Aparecida Gobbi, Henri Lefebvre, Márcio Seligmann-Silva, Walter Benjamin, among others and others, as listening possibilities for reflection on collective and individual memories, territory and social movements fighting for housing. With this, the aim is to reflect on the cultural construction and identity value present in the stories lived during childhood in neighborhoods that are under ruins. Investigating the childhood memories of its residents is a contribution towards keeping alive the history and culture of ways of living in a neighborhood in the city of Maceió.
