SUMMARY:

Environmental sustainability indicators are important management tools to measure the results of sustainable actions and certify the forms of impact on the environment and society. Considering this concept, this work aims to present indicators of environmental sustainability in the management of wastewater tratment in the of Maceió - AL, in order to establish a model of reference form to be used by managers, in order to evaluate the sewage system in the Stations Sewage Treatment Plants in the municipality. Through the SWOT matrix and the Leopold matrix, and after evaluating the indicators present in the literature review, it is possible to find the indicators that fit the local scenario to be used as parameters for the proper functioning of an wastewater tratment. From the establishment of environmental sustainability indicators and their application, it is expected that managers can use this tool in decision-making for the sustainable, operational, technical and organizational development of the Treatment Plant and promote effective and permanent environmental management.
