Climate changes (arising from anthropogenic activities) as a result of the increase in the emission of gases that cause the greenhouse effect. What has also been widely made are the studies that aim at the past, which generate responses to the conditions we are already facing, a sort of exams of current problems. These alert us to a future environmentally ill, however, as in preventive medicine, the prediction of the droughts in the area of the São Francisco River Basin will serve as tool to predict the levels of effects we will face and logically foster changes that promote sustainability. The scarcity of rain is a common impact in the study area, but hydrometeorological changes, read for this “precipitation reduction” work, it generates imbalances in storage water and even more severe droughts. Calculating the Standardized Precipitation Index will be applied to the precipitation variables obtained from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5), more efficient for the chosen basin and, ultimately, will be generated maps that will allow to analyze spatiotemporally the scales of droughts in the basin zones between the years 2011 and 2100. process the SPI indicates change points for both initial scenarios adopted and greater drought severity for the most pessimistic. It is also expected that the information generated is efficient for the purposes for which it is proposed.
