Incorrect disposal and the rampant generation of solid waste in rural areas cause multiple damages to society. A solution to mitigate this polluting load is through the use of biodigesters: waste treatment units that accelerate the degradation of the organic matter present. In swine farming, these equipments are able to minimize the contamination of water sources and the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, such as methane. The advantages of biodigestion through the use of the biodigester are: the reuse of organic waste, the production of fertilizers and biogas. The present work has as objective the construction of a prototype of a biodigester directed to the small rural producers and that includes economic, energetic and environmental viability. The study will have three stages. Initially, the samples will be collected in a model farm located in the municipality of Satuba, east of the State of Alagoas. In parallel, the construction of the prototype will take place and its subsequent operation by feeding the equipment with swine manure. Finally, the evaluation of the efficiency of the system through the results of physical and chemical characterization. Analyzes of BOD, Total Nitrogen, Fixed Solids and Volatile Solids, COD, Temperature, Retention Time and pH will be carried out, and a significant reduction in the polluting load of the residue is estimated, in addition to the generation of biogas and biofertilizer.
