SUMMARY:

The use of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) for structural purposes has been gradually
increasing and this growth has resulted in the emergence of several international standards.
With regard to Brazil, although FRC has been used in construction over the last 15 years, the
first standard related to the design of FRC structures was only published in 2021. This
standard represents the calculation aspects that must be considered to design FRC structural
elements, however, the design steps are not fully illustrated. From this problem, and in order
to contribute to the establishment of guidelines for the structural aspects of the FRC, the
present work aims to determine calculation procedures for the design of fluid concrete beams
partially reinforced with fibers (FCRF) and fluid concrete beams high strength partially
reinforced with fibers (FCHSRF). To establish these guidelines, expressions for the design of
beams fluid concrete reinforced with fibers were preliminarily determined, referring to the
analysis of small beams. To this end, we used works found in the literature and through
numerical analysis via the finite element method (FEM), and through concepts of damage
mechanics and constitutive relationships for the sizing of FRC structures, the analysis was
carried out of beams for situations with a section reinforced only with fibers and a section
reinforced with fibers and reinforcement. From this, it is intended to continue this study with
the determination of expressions for the design of full scale beams of fluid concrete reinforced
with fibers to later verify the relationship of the calculation script for small beams in relation
to beams tested in full scale.
