NUMERICAL VALIDATION OF PERCOLATION OF PETROLEUM DERIVATIVES IN POROUS MEDIA USING OPENFOAM
CFD, fluid percolation, porous media, oil spills
The study of percolation of fluids in porous media is necessary in several processes to help understand the behavior of the fluid inside the pores. It is of paramount importance for solving problems related to cases of oil spills. This work aimed to carry out the numerical validation of the percolation of petroleum derivatives in porous media using OpenFoam. A series of numerical simulations were carried out using the OpenFoam program and the physicochemical characteristics of automotive lubricating oil samples were analyzed.
