Health Education, Play and Playthings, Medical Oncology, Health Promotion, Quality of Health.
The objective of this work is to analyze the existing scientific evidence in the literature on the use of games for the promotion and health education of people in cancer care. This is a scoping review in which data collection was performed in Epistemonikos, PubMed, BDTD, BVS/Bireme, Scopus, Google Scholar, Embase, Web Of Science, ProQuest Dissertation Theses, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Catalog of Theses & Dissertations - CAPES and LILACS between March and June 2022. The final sample consisted of 72 studies. These date from the year 2001, with the highest number of publications in the year 2018 (n=10), being mostly carried out in the American continent (n=40), mainly as primary data sources (n=44). It was shown that all games were electronic/digital, despite the different mechanics and elements presented, distributed in order to meet the different age groups, especially children, adolescents/young adults and adults, respectively. These were used for health education of people undergoing diagnosis, treatment and remission, being inserted in the approach of relevant topics in the field such as adherence to treatment, self-efficacy for disease management, management of nausea and vomiting, promotion of physical activity and changes in health behaviors, and quality of life. It was concluded that research in the area is promising and follows trends in the field of the use of educational games in health.
