SUMMARY:

In view of the current environmental and economic crisis, the abusive use of natural resources and the representativeness of the residential sector in the final consumption of water and energy in Brazil. investigate, through this research, the environmental impact and the potential of water conservation and energy in a conventional single-family home subjected to semi-arid climate. For that, it is intended to carry out a case study in an upper middle class single-family residence located in the city of Petrolina PE (municipality fed by the São Francisco River). THE The intention of the research is to investigate the patterns of water and energy consumption, the level of sustainability that a conventional home can achieve after being built (investigating the feasibility and degree of difficulty) and the cost and payback time of applying measures adaptive measures designed to reduce the final consumption of water and energy in the household. For that, it will be performed an initial characterization of the consumption of the case study residence, followed by water and energy audits (without and with changes in habits). After the surveys, rainwater reuse and reuse systems will be designed, as well as electric power generation and water heating systems using energy solar. The economic feasibility of inserting these systems in housing will be investigated and, by and finally, the payback period on the investment made (considering the estimated savings). Like tool to aid in the development of the entire research, it is intended to use the systems of environmental certification AQUA, Casa Azul + Caixa and an assessment methodology developed by Lima (2018). These certifications will be used as a tool for guidance and evaluation of the building's consumption patterns. It is intended, from the research, obtain results that inform: water consumption patterns (detailed for each point of use) and energy (sectorized by equipment) and the potential savings that can be achieved with the adoption of conscious habits and installation of energy-saving systems water and energy in the home.
