SUMMARY:

Sustainability in the energy performance of buildings directly brings benefits for both housing users and the country, and the environment in general. Among the direct benefits for users, the following stand out: the virtual increase in income, through the use of passive means for the scope of light comfort and/or thermal, which reduce the need for electricity consumption; and, the increase quality of life and health, both by increasing comfort and by eliminating of pollutants. The recent Coronavirus pandemic in 2019 has shown the importance that solar energy and air renewal have in spaces for the elimination of pollutants, so the controlled interaction of these natural elements with the buildings it is shown as a priority need and not just as an option for human life. At the global level, data from the last UN report (2021) reveal that today, global warming is no longer a problem of the future, but one of the present, and which also needs scathing answers both in the short and in the mid-term. In this context, awareness of the need to reduce energy consumption is imperative, and the promotion of its practice in the most man's personal, housing, becomes an opportunity to stimulate this awareness through practice. In the specific case of Venezuela, this situation becomes even more urgent not only by the expected droughts predicted in the region due to global warming, as well as due to the normative and methodological delay that the country has with respect to it. Consequently the construction of housing of social interest, through the GMVV program, one of the most important areas within the national construction repertoire of the latest decades, the study of incorporating design technology and sustainable rehabilitation in line with high energy performance would allow contextualize its benefits and, at the very least, open the panorama of possibilities integration with an energy-sustainable architecture. In summary, the planned study would allow a referential expansion of the scope of the Venezuelan National Housing Program or similar programs, focusing on its impact not only in the social sphere, but also in an integrated way to the economic and environmental, that is, to its sustainable interest. Finally, on a personal level, research is an opportunity to expand the benchmark of my professional practice, with the integration of new concepts which undoubtedly enrich my field of resources for projecting solutions to contemporary human facts.
