SUMMARY:

The large-scale productions of the Federal Government Housing Program projects are being used in the dilution of land prices and in the construction of a greater number of housing units, in an attempt to meet the statistics of reduction of the housing deficit and minimize construction costs. Adopting, many times, standardized configurations of urban morphology and architectural typologies, which are repeated throughout the country, disregarding the social, spatial and mainly environmental conditions, with the scarcity of green spaces, which generates damage to the urban environment and compromises the quality of life of its inhabitants. In this context, this work presents reflections and propositions of green strategies related to the concept of resilience (defined by development, innovation and continuous transformation, to achieve new configurations or a better adaptation of existing configurations). With the general objective of proposing urban strategies and recommendations that incorporate plant species, to improve the microclimate of Horizontal Housing Complexes implemented by the Federal Government in Maceió - AL, from 2009 to 2019, aiming at the environmental resilience of these projects. The specific objectives are: a) To investigate which configuration of urban soil, with the insertion of plant species, is more suitable for thermal comfort in cities with a tropical climate. b) Characterize the typical typologies of Brazilian urban vegetation in hot and humid regions and address their relationships with the microclimate. c) Identify the subdivision patterns consolidated in the horizontal housing developments of the Federal Government Programs, between the years 2009 and 2019. d) Evaluate the influence that plant species exert on the environmental quality of horizontal housing developments and on the thermal comfort of its users. The methods used in this work were: 1. Procedure method - qualitative, with systematic reviews on the spatial distributions of plant species, their characterizations and relationships with the microclimate, bibliographical and documental survey of temporal analysis (2009 - 2019) of the morphologies of the sets horizontal housing projects, field visits to selected developments, interviews with users, regarding the use of vegetation in these complexes and interviews with professionals from construction companies, about the designed design standards and their possible resilience; and 2. Method of procedure – quantitative, through monitoring and data collection, using equipment for field measurements of environmental variables (air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, mean radiant temperature and surface temperature). Therefore, according to the results that will be obtained in this work, it is expected to contribute with the proposition of strategies for the insertion of vegetation cover, from native plant species suitable for each purpose and low maintenance cost, capable of improving the quality of the microclimate and the thermal comfort of the users of horizontal housing complexes of the Federal Government Programs, in Maceió - AL.
