SUMMARY:

The main objective of this study is to understand the role played by museums in the dynamics of the city/destination Maceió, with an emphasis on the vision of residents and tourists. The research is based on the theoretical assumption that Maceió is predominantly known as a "Sun and Sea" tourism destination, which places the cultural part,
especially museums, in the background. This situation reflects not only on tourism, but also on the relationship between the local community and these cultural facilities. On the other hand, the study seeks to highlight the importance and benefits of diversifying the
tourist offer for a destination, enabling a greater reach of visitors, who seek experiences increasingly closer to the culture and local heritage of the destination visited. The research demonstrates the importance of integrating the museum with the community
local. The research emphasizes the importance of establishing integration between the museum and the local community, as a way of strengthening the cultural, educational, and economic relevance of museums in the social context in which they are located. The methodology of
The research will be qualitative, which will include semi-structured interviews, applied to residents, tourists and visitors to Maceió museums, in addition to field analysis through documents, photographic records and direct observation. Expected results
will allow us to gain insight into the contribution of Maceió's museums to the local community, as well as their demand and tourist relevance for the destination. The analysis of Maceió's museums could contribute to strengthening the role of museums in the dynamics of
city, as a way of seeking greater involvement with the local community and tourism.
