The main idea is to draw up a profile of the Brazilian architect, making it
possible to raise questions about their social function, as well as to assimilate ideas
and symbols surrounding this individual. This construction takes place through the
combination of demographic characteristics collected by the II Census of Architects
and Urban Planners in Brazil, together with a bibliographical study that ranges from
the concepts linked to the subject of the urban architect to the power relations
raised by Bourdieu. The interests and difficulties of this individual are considered
in this research in order to draw up this profile and also help in the investigation
of their social function. To explore justifiable ways of connecting this professional
class with interests that go beyond the field of the individual and reach collective
dimensions.
