SUMMARY:

This work is titled "Productive and Coherent Use of Argumentative Strategies in
Enem 2021 Essays Scored 1000" and falls within rhetorical-argumentative studies in
the field of Textual and Enunciative Studies: orality, reading, and writing, from the
Postgraduate Program in Linguistics and Literature at the Federal University of
Alagoas. Its objective is centered on understanding the argumentative writing of
Enem essays scored 1000, focusing on the employed argumentative strategies and
observing their productive and coherent use. The theoretical foundation is primarily
based on Aristotle's classical rhetoric, followed by exploring the paths of his
successors and reaching the postulates of the new rhetoric regarding argument
theory with Meyer (1998), Reboul (2004), Abreu (2008), Perelman and Olbrechts-
Tyteca (2005), and Gracio (2011). This study adopts a qualitative approach,
conducting a comprehensive examination of the research object, considering its
context and the characteristics of the society it belongs to. It is relevant for reflecting
on the efficiency of argumentative strategies through their (in)coherent application in
essays, aiming to optimize teaching and learning practices of this important textual
genre for students in both school and standardized tests like vestibulares and Enem.
