SUMMARY:

Associating myself with the political-social agendas of Linguística Aplicada Transviada / LAT (Bezerra, 2023) and Linguística Aplicada Implicada / LAI (Souto Maior, 2022; 2023), as a proposal for a critical-reflexive understanding of the discourses that circulate and shape the society, with regard to social reflections on language that emerge within the scope of the Discourse, Teaching and Learning of Languages and Literatures Study Group (GEDEALL/UFAL/CNPq), this research aims to analyze the social and discursive implications of transgender people and transvestites who were cared for by a Reception Center in the city of Maceió-AL from October 2021 to October 2022. Understanding discourse as “social practice” (Moita Lopes, 2002) and “action” (Fabrício, 2006) which is immersed “in the life and life of discourse” (Souto Maior, 2023), the construction of the data was through on-site observation, interviews and field notes regarding the dynamics of trans and transvestite women who attend a Shelter Center in Maceió-AL. In this way, I therefore consider that transgender/transvestigenders constitute a set of “identity constitutions” (Silva Lima, 2021; Silva Lima and Souto Maior, 2021; 2022), within the transfeminist agenda, which are in a “constant process ” (Jesus, 2010b; Jesus [et al], 2015; 2019; Kulick, 2008; Moira [et al], 2017). Thus, the specific objectives are: (a) to identify, in the speeches of the participants of the Reception Center, their identity trajectory that marks the spaces and dynamics of survival; (b) observe how identity constitutions occur through discursive processes that add to the realities of trans and transvestite women at the Reception Center; (c) describe identity trajectories in the implications of meaning in relation to identities in the process of construction/movement. Regarding the methodology, I develop ethnographic research, in accordance with Paiva (2019) and Prodanov and Freitas (2013), combining the social and cultural description of the space of the Welcome Center in Maceió-AL that serves TLGBQIAPN+ people in vulnerable situations social, using a questionnaire, semi-structured interview and observation. The guiding questions that supported the research were: (1) How do the participants'/collaborators' speeches present themselves in relation to their identity trajectories in spaces and survival dynamics?; (2) How do the discursive processes of trans and transvestite women take place based on the identity constitutions that add to the realities crossed by violence and other issues? and (3) What implications of meaning are identified in the participants’/collaborators’ speeches in relation to identity trajectories? In this sense, the discursive implications that revolve around the experiences of participants/collaborators from the Reception Center, as identity processes in movement, are associated, in some cases, with the misunderstanding of their gender identity, both because there is a relationship between homosexuality and transvestism, both by understanding that gender identity is a process of understanding oneself, whose social and political relations are intertwined in the social web. Therefore, the “postmodern subject” (Hall, 2006): in this case, trans women and transvestites gain visibility and more spaces when their narratives (identity trajectories) – identity constitutive movements – are constructed/constituted in/by world.
