Punctuation marks in school manuscripts: a study on the use of punctuation in texts from a 9th grade class of elementary school.
PUNCTUATION MARKS; READING; MANUSCRIPT; TEACHING PUNCTUATION.
This paper aims to make an analysis of the punctuation marks inscribed in manuscripts produced spontaneously by students of a 9th grade class of Elementary II. Taking into account the studies about the acquisition of punctuation marks by Ferreiro and Teberosky (1985), Carvalho and Beraldi (1995), Ferreiro (1996), Rocha (2012), Pizani, Pimentel and Zunino (1998) among others, we will seek to observe how students use punctuation marks in their texts. In addition, we will present the importance that punctuation marks have for the process of reading/writing texts and what the guiding teaching documents (BNCC and PCN) say about this graphic element. We will also analyze, based on the research of Silva (2012), Perroni (2015), Silva (2016), and Silva and Silva (2018) how the textbook collection used by the class studied approaches the teaching of punctuation. This research is justified by the fact that this content is a subject still little discussed in the academic and school environment. We believe that such absence contributes to the problems and misconceptions that still exist in the teaching of punctuation marks in school contexts.
