THE VARIABLE EXPRESSION OF THE VERBAL FUTURE IN THE SPOKEN LANGUAGE IN THE SERTÃO ALAGOANO
Linguistic variation. Verbal future. Simple future. Periphrastic Future. Verb IR. Grammaticalization.
The present work is a research on the variable expression of the verbal future in the language spoken in Sertão Alagoano, in which the objective is to analyze if, in the speech community on screen, there is a greater occurrence in the use of simple future (FS) or periphrastic future (FP) as well as to describe which linguistic and extralinguistic factors can induce the use of periphrasis (IR+infinitive). For that, we selected a group of linguistic variables of a formal, semantic and discursive nature, which are: Semantic type of the main verb; Speech person; Projection of the future fact; Verb tense; Verbal Paradigm and Formal Parallelism. Regarding social variables, the following factors were considered: sex/gender (male/female), age group (F1 – 18 to 29 years old / F2 – 30 to 44 years old and F3 – over 44 years old) and schooling (E0 – no schooling / E1 – elementary school / E2 – high school / E3 – higher education). This research is based on the theoretical-methodological perspective of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV [2008 {1972}]) and on discussions related to the verbal future [Silva (1997), Oliveira (2006), Rua (2017), Clempi (2019), Vieira (2014), Figuereido (2015), Silva (2016), Souza (2016), Rocha (2018); Silva (2006), Fonseca (2010); South: Gibbon (2000)]. For the development of this study, a corpus formed by spontaneous speech clippings from the database of the Língua Usada no Sertão Alagoano (LUSA) will be used, which corresponds to a number of 96 sociolinguistic interviews of the DID type, thus constituting a synchronous sample. For analysis purposes, the data obtained will be coded for a statistical and probabilistic analysis, using the statistical software R. Based on the above, this study aims to contribute in the scope of Variationist Sociolinguistics as well as corroborates the development of a mapping of the sociolinguistic profile of speakers of Sertão Alagoano.
