SUMMARY:

Studying Social Security in Brazil and its reforms requires a return to the history of the entire process of workers' struggles, in the search for labor rights and other social rights, in the context of the development of capitalism in its current stage, neoliberalism. Brazilian Social Security is part of one of the largest social protection systems in Latin America, Social Security, whose concept was enshrined in the Federal Constitution of 1988. The construction of this system, however, accompanied the development of capitalism in Brazil, with its contradictions and effects on social policies. From the government of Fernando Collor de Melo to Jair Bolsonaro, attacks on the Social Security system have been recurrent, gradually contributing to the dismantling of the system. The present study, in progress, is affiliated with the French Discourse Analysis, founded by Michel Pêcheux, and aims to analyze the contradictions in the neoliberal discourse on the Social Security Reform and its effects of meaning in different discursive formations. To achieve this objective, we seek to identify the elements of knowledge of the neoliberal discourse in materialities extracted from legal bases, newspaper reports and articles from national union representations of workers; to investigate the functioning of the contradiction in the neoliberal discourse and its implications in the production of meanings, considering different ideological formations and to investigate how the effects of meaning produced by the neoliberal discourse simulate its contradictions about the Social Security reform in different discursive formations.
