The null subject parameter in Brazilian Sign Language
Null subject; acquisition; Libras.
Natural languages are constituted through principles, common and universal elements, and parameters, variable elements, of which one of the most common is the null subject parameter. Languages that have a null subject present the possibility of phonetically muting the subject in the sentence. European Portuguese, Italian and Spanish are examples of this type of language. This study aims to investigate, through data acquisition and speech of adults, how the null subject manifests itself in Libras, in order to classify it according to the type of language to which it belongs in relation to this parameter. The data analyzed in this work are spontaneous speeches of deaf individuals, which come from two projects developed by the Federal University of Santa Catarina - UFSC, Project Corpus de Libras and Project Acquisition of syntax by Brazilian deaf children: repercussions of different forms of access to sign language.
