Definite article; Anthroponyms; Variationist Sociolinguistics; Maceió.
This study, having as a theoretical-methodological basis the Variationist Sociolinguistic Theory, aims to analyze the phenomenon of variation in the realization of the definite article before anthroponyms in the Portuguese spoken in Maceió - AL, object of our investigation. From this perspective, the main objective is to analyze a thorough and quantitative descriptive study about the phenomenon in question in anthroponymic phrases. In this sense, we are analyzing whether the phenomenon comes to acquire influence from linguistic and extralinguistic variables. We raised the hypothesis that the speech data of residents of the city of Maceió will present a high index of realization of the definite article, since it is pointed out in Marroquim (1945) that, in Alagoas, proper names are accompanied by the articular determinative, we also brought some studies from neighboring states. In this sense, our methodology makes the analysis of 24 informants, all residing in the city of Maceió, for at least 5 years, the interviewees will be classified according to the following social variables: gender (male and female) which reflects more than biological differences, but the diversity of roles that the community assigns to men and women; schooling (primary, secondary and higher education) which will show, or not, changes in variation according to years of schooling; and age (20 to 39 and over 50 years) since studies show that, in general, the control of this conditioner can visualize a possible language change. All assurance for data collection was carried out upon submission and approval by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) of the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). With regard to linguistic requirements, we consider the following variables: Type of information; Prepositioned context; Anthroponym reference; Syntactic Function; Informational status and typology of the anthroponym. We will use the computer program GoldVarbX, an analytical tool used in the quantification of percentage data.
