SUMMARY:

Formal education in Brazil emerged with the arrival of the Jesuit priests, causing a great transformation in the cultural aspect and in civilization, with the educational process being fundamental for its evolution. Professional training is a constant concern in human history, especially with those who will take care of the population's health. Botti and Rego, (2008) apud Macedo (1999) state that, in primitive tribes, candidates to exercise the role of pajé were carefully selected and trained. Lately, preceptorship has stood out as a teaching modality in the training of professionals, especially in the health area, whether at undergraduate or graduate level. The preceptor must have skills, theoretical and practical knowledge, in addition to being knowledgeable about didactics for better collaboration with the trainee. The experience of the preceptor nurse in the hospital service, his training, the constant search for knowledge and updating, are key factors for the best performance and training of the future professional.Based on the results of this study, it is possible to produce and/or support arguments that lead to an improvement in the training of these professionals. This research aimed to analyze the training of preceptors for training residents in Obstetric Nursing and Women's Health at a public institution in Maceió; Know the specific training process of the preceptors participating in the research, for the exercise of preceptorship in the internship under study; To describe the importance of the preceptor for training the resident in obstetric nursing and women's health. This is a research with a qualitative approach, of the exploratory type, outlined as an Educational Case Study. The results achieved show the growing presence of men, which means affirming the emergence of a new trend, that of masculinization in the category. (PUCPR-2020); The survey showed 96.55% Female and 3.45% Male; The group aged between 31 and 40 years old, called the professional development phase, where one seeks to qualify more for the services, specializing through a postgraduate course (PUCPR 2020), 90% of the nurses claim to have taken some course in improvement or post graduation;this survey shows that only 26.66% have a residency course in nursing or specialization in women's health or midwifery; 23.33% have a specialization in teaching or health education or teaching; 6.66% have no specialization; 23.33% have stricto sensu training and 20.02% have other specializations such as: Occupational Nursing, Collective Health, ICU, Urgency and emergency, among others. Although there are many challenges, limitations in comprehensiveness for the best development of the Curriculum and the teaching-learning process in health education, the relationship between the parties involved, resident-preceptor, promotes the benefit by creating an exchange of theoretical and practical knowledge. The characteristics of the relationship developed between preceptor and resident, mentioned here as something positive, portray its relevance for collective work, mediated by valuing the student's knowledge, in which the preceptor develops educational criticism, in a constant process of elaboration and re-elaboration of knowledge -do, in order to horizontalize this relationship. We suggest greater interaction between institutions in order to offer better training to residents, making the preceptor part of the educational process, without maintaining a link with the university.
