Sleep and development are associated with maternal sleep and mental health

The study of circadian rhythms throughout development and the physiological and behavioural impact of interfering in these rhythms is still scarce. We evaluated the association between sleep and child development with maternal rhythm and socioeconomic status(n = 111) and used regression among other analyses. The baby's sleep phase was explained by the mother's chronotype and sleep quality. No significant interactions were identified for the other variables to explain the sleep phase. These findings suggest that the mother's chronotype and sleep quality modulate the chronotype in the early stages.
