Transsexuality: representations from fans of Marvel and DC comics in the internet.
Sociology, ethnography, systems of representations, internet, Marvel and DC comics.
In this work I will analyze how Marvel and DC comics fans are Building representations about transgender people on the internet. My hypothesis is that the representations about transsexuality among group members are the result of the lack of knowledge of the stories of heroes linked to this universe, well as the incomprehension of the phenomenon of transsexuality as a fact of objective reality. I will describe how a group of fans that organize themselves on the internet works, how fans organize themselves in other moments and historical spaces, present transsexual characters that appear in comics and that are appearing in other productions, albeit in a shy way. I will discuss these issues based on Stuart Hall's theory of social representations, which links representation systems to language, discourse and difference.
