A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON INTERVENTIONS WITH MEN AUTHORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN NORTHEAST STATES
Maria da Penha Law; domestic violence against women; men authors of domestic violence; public policy.
The Maria da Penha Law, enacted in 2006, besides prioritizing the attention to women in situations of violence, establishes prevention strategies and confrontation of domestic violence from initiatives directed also to men who are authors of violence (known in Brazil by the Portuguese acronym, HAV). This research aims at intervention policies carried out with these men in 6 states in the Northeast region (MA, PI, RN, PE, AL and SE). We aim to analyze how the development of these policies has taken place, especially the attention given by these programs to the issue of recidivism among their participants. This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research supported in two distinct moments. In the first moment, a questionnaire with closed questions will be applied to get to know some fundamental aspects of the structuring of each of these programs, which will make possible a comparative study between interventions carried out in the same region, following the same analysis criteria. In the next moment, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with local managers and technicians of this policy in order to better understand the specificities of each of these services. The results found, based on the specialized literature, aim to discuss the way these interventions have been conducted in the Northeast of Brazil and how they may or may not contribute to confronting violence against women, considering, above all, the issue of recidivism of these social agents.
