LETHALITY OF POLICE OPERATIONS: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY ABOUT THE ACTING OF THE PUBLIC MINISTRY OF ALAGOAS (2016-2020)

This research aims to verify the acting of the Public Ministry of Alagoas, one of the entities responsable for the Police Activity External Control, regarding cases of death by police intervention registered between the years of 2016 and 2020. Besides the statistical assessment of information from lawsuits, each procedure will be analised for identifying winning and loosing lawsuits with the corresponding responsibilities of the public security agents envolved. Also, the content of ministry decisions will be verified and interviews will be conducted with the actor involved on the investigations and decisions regarding police lethality. The hypothesis is that there is a legitimation of the violence perpetrated by the police with the consent of the Public Ministry.
