SUMMARY:

ABSTRACT:Colombia is a country with a long history of political violence. During the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, traditional political parties used armed violence to deal with the opposition and eliminate disputes for political and economic power at the local, regional and national levels. Starting in the 1950s, already within the international context of the Cold War and the fight against the communist danger in Latin America promoted by the US National Security Doctrine, political violence in Colombia was transformed into an armed struggle between the State and multiple organized actors with different objectives, territories and multiple levels of incidence in Colombian society. The purpose of this research is to delve into the particular experience in which the internal armed conflict in Colombia developed in the “oriente antioqueño”region, which due to its strategic characteristics for the regional and national economy was a scene of strong disputes for territorial control by part of all the legal and illegal armed actors involved in the conflicto - guerrillas, paramilitaries, drug traffickers, State - mainly between the 1980s and 2000s, and in which the civilian population of the local communities would bear the worst of it. The characteristics that the armed conflict took in this particular region are based on a territorial conflict that already existed in the region since the 1960s due to the arbitrary construction of infrastructure megaprojects such as the Medellín - Bogotá highway and the enormous hydroelectric complex in the area of reservoirs. Based on the testimonies of the victims of the armed conflict that are compiled in the reports published by the Historical Memory Group of the National Commission for Reparation and Reconciliation (2005-2011) and by the current National Center for Historical Memory, it is sought make visible the experiences of reconstruction of the collective memory of the victims as an emerging historical subject in scenarios of multiple violence but also of multiple forms of resistance to war and to oblivion.
