In the plots of succession: Fernando Collor de Mello in the pages of Jornal de Alagoas and Gazeta de Alagoas (1989 – 1992)

In 1989, Brazil was promoting the first direct post-civil-military dictatorship election and, in this context, Fernando Collor de Mello, who was governor of Alagoas, emerged. In the year of the election, Collor reconciled his pre-candidacy and national ascension with the management in the State of Alagoas and in this process the crises in the economy through Banco Produban were clear, which was experiencing the process of liquidation or reopening causing disruption in the economic/banking system of Alagoas. In parallel with the problems of Produban, Alagoas was also experiencing crises in the civil service, specifically the state servant. Collor’s management delayed the salaries of employees, in addition to creating a package of measures causing mass layoffs of public servants, with the justification of moralizing the public service. Fernando Collor increasingly invested in the presidential campaign through the media. In the same year, the politician helped in the formation of the PRN – Party of National Reconstruction, whose acronym was part of the electoral process with Collor as its representative. Studies on Fernando Collor are being made based on bibliographies on the subject and analysis of Jornal de Alagoas and Gazeta de Alagoas.
