SUMMARY:

Eletrobras, the largest company in the electricity sector in Latin America, is currently in the process of privatization, initiated through Provisional Measure No. 1031 of 2021 signed by current president Jair Bolsonaro, with the justifications that the company's financial situation prevents it from continue with the investments necessary for the expansion of the national electricity sector and that the State should prioritize its expenditures in essential areas. This paper aims to analyze how the relationship between the State and the power bloc in an economy dominated by neoliberalism influenced the current proposal for privatization of Eletrobras. The research developed will have a qualitative and exploratory character and will use documentary and bibliographic research.
