SUMMARY:

The present study aim aims to analyze the development of tourism in the Costa dos Corais region of Alagoas. The focus is on the lodging sector, from 2010 to 2020. For this purpose, an extensive literature review is conducted and measures, policies and programs of the federal government and the state of Alagoas that have promoted tourism in the characteristic areas are identified, focusing on the lodging sector. Secondary data from the hotel industry will be collected, such as the number of hotels and guesthouses, types of establishments, categories, etc. In addition, data on the labor market in these municipalities are collected, such as the number of workers (gender, age, race, etc.), through the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS) of the Ministry of Economy, the Brazilian Hotel Association in Alagoas (ABIH/AL), and information on the categories working in the hotel sector at the Union of Hotel Employees in the State of Alagoas (STCHEAL). Finally, the tourism departments of the municipalities in the Costa dos Corais of Alagoas will be visited to collect data on the economic dynamics of the sector. It is hoped that this dissertation can serve as a stimulus for the implementation of future public policies to strengthen and promote the production chain of the sector.
