SUMMARY:

Medicinal plants contribute significantly to therapeutic control worldwide and, in particular, in developing countries. According to the World Health Organization, approximately three billion people across the planet use “traditional medicines” for their basic health needs, as they are often the only therapeutic alternative for a large percentage of the population. In Brazil, of the 120 thousand species of plants, tens of thousands have medicinal properties. The use of plants is constant in the country, which are also objects of studies in the development of new drugs. Moringa oleifera Lam is an arboreal vegetable belonging to the Moringaceae family, of Indian origin, cultivated mainly in places with dry tropical climates in various regions of the world. It is popularly called the miracle tree, presenting several applications in agriculture, medicine, livestock, human and biological systems. Due to its bioactivity, it has gained enormous attention in the last decade, which has led to a high level of exploration and understanding of its pharmacological functions and underlying mechanisms. The present study aims to describe the behavior of phytochemical compounds found in Moringa oleifera Lam leaf extracts and the standardization by physical-chemical and antioxidant monitoring. The DPPH radical scavenging capacity test of the 2019 and 2021 sample (powder) showed good results, where the concentration of 750µg/mL of 2019 MO in all hydroalcoholic extracts (20%, 40%, 50% and 75%), also being perceptible the dependent concentration of 125µg/mL at 50% that showed antioxidant activity similar to (trolox), since the samples of extracts of OM powder from 2021 showed that the extracts of the months of June, July and August associated to the use of alcohol percentage (50% and 75%), they obtained an IC50 result lower than 50µg/mL, being one of the best results of antioxidant activity. The samples of MO tea 2021 consolidated the study of the antioxidant activity of the 2019 extracts, in which the hydroalcoholic extract with a lower percentage of alcohol (25% extract) showed lower antioxidant activity than the extracts with a higher percentage of alcohol used in the extraction (50 % and 75%). The OM powder samples exhibited significant total flavonoid contents between 1.14 % to 2.35 %, highlighting the months of June powder 50% with 2.35% and August powder 75% with 2 %. In general, the antioxidant activity and the flavonoid content of OM powder extracts increased in the months of intense rainfall (June, July and August), decreasing significantly with low rainfall.
