SALVADOR BOTANICAL GARDEN: AN INVESTIGATIVE APPROACH OF HOW FIELD CLASSES CAN PROMOTE AWARENESS IN ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Qualitative approach; action research; environmental education
It is essential to promote activities such as field classes that aim to allow students to leave the classroom environment and that enable them to understand the practical aspects of learning that are generally only offered to them theoretically. It is then possible for them to be able to make this link between theoretical and practical knowledge. The field class taught in a precise, coherent and organized way, allows students to change their learning perspective and feel in practice the real relationship that exists between us, human beings, and the environment that surrounds us. This became a great concern on my part in trying to combine theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The choice of methodology was made with the intention that the student would act as the protagonist and that the teacher would simply have the role of mediator of the entire process. The approach used was qualitative because it was the one that best fit this perspective. The methodology used was action research. The use of photographs and logbooks and interviews were the tools used in the data collection process. For the data analysis process, the students' individual perception and knowledge were used, allowing effective internalization of knowledge. The research aimed to allow the study of environmental education in a more practical way.
