SUMMARY:

The subject Biology, in high school, presents many difficulties in assimilating concepts, laws and theories by public school students, considering that these arrive at this stage of basic education with many learning disabilities. taking in considering that the subject has its own vocabulary, and that this is not presented to students in a more comprehensive way, leading to an approach simple and more decorative in terms of concepts, principles, phenomena, etc., than apprehension of the technical-scientific knowledge inherent to it. The present work has for aim to show the importance of learning the various contents of biology, assisted by the use, reading and interpretation of images in the training of 1st grade students years of high school at Theotônio Vilela Brandão State School in Maceió-AL involving the application of practical activities and providing opportunities for students to use significant strategies in learning the contents, concepts and theories of Biology, in special about cellular respiration. An interactionist approach will be used as a strategy teaching-learning, thus contributing to a better understanding of the contents of the high school. Images will be used as auxiliary means for understanding the basic concepts of biology, especially of breathing and its respective stages through lectures, field experiments and basic research. This way the work will contribute to a transformation in the way students learn the topics, giving them the opportunity to be active subjects of their learning, able to think and interfere in social practices around it.
