APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY IN HIGH SCHOOL - HEALTH, DISEASE, BIOTECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT: AN INVESTIGATIVE TEACHING PROPOSAL
microbiology, teaching, learning, biotechnology, health, environment
Microorganisms are beings that perform various functions on the planet, but that, despite their multifunctionality, end up being commonly associated with pathogenic and infectious organisms. Bacteria, fungi, and algae are the main groups of living beings studied by Microbiology. Working with Microbiology in high school becomes extremely relevant, since organisms such as these can be found in various niches, performing various functions, whether in the health of other living beings, in the environment, in industries, or in biotechnological processes, many of which are part of our daily lives. Aiming to provide high school students with different methodologies to explore more about microscopic biological agents, this project proposes the development and application of an investigative didactic sequence, with problem-based learning (PBL), aiming at the formulation of new knowledge through research, using Information and Communication Technologies and sharing this knowledge through the production of digital didactic material (Website). This project also proposes that, through these activities, the student will acquire more complete knowledge about the theme and, through research, will be able to reject possible prejudices about these agents. Finally, it is expected that the objectives are achieved and, mainly, that the investigative strategy contributes positively to the process of teaching and learning the theme in question.
