SUMMARY:

The discussion of the role of science, the media and the community in the prevention and control of infectious and contagious diseases can be relevant in the debates promoted in the school environment. The National Common Curricular Base establishes competences and skills to be developed by students so that they perceive the approximation of the contents worked in the classroom with their reality, providing a more efficient learning. The use of Didactic Sequences has proven to be favorable in teaching and understanding different contents and, to provide a link between Science and Health, the teacher can address issues on topics such as Neglected Tropical Diseases, especially people from poorer communities and those in need of quality public health. This qualitative research work will be applied in a public school in the city of Salvador/BA and aims to investigate the application of an Investigative Didactic Sequence on Neglected Tropical Diseases to improve the learning of high school students. In order to achieve what is expected, productions in the literature that address the theme will be analyzed and an Investigative Didactic Sequence will be developed to evaluate its contribution in promoting the Scientific Literacy of these young people. The proposed activities aim to promote research, discussion, contextualization and production of content for the school's digital media in order to develop a critical eye capable of identifying the impact of these diseases on the quality of life of society and allowing student protagonism and the construction of scientific knowledge based on questions about the health of the population.
