SUMMARY:

Accessibility is a very important element to guarantee the rights of people with disabilities or reduced mobility, and the accessible route is the best way to make this accessibility viable in schools or other buildings and urban areas. This study aims to identify technologies for application in accessible routes for schools, including them in
a booklet aimed at designers of these environments. The preparation of the booklet observed the technical standards on accessible routes, as well as the need to instruct engineering, architecture and design professionals and students on the use of assistive technology in school projects. The study started from a literature review on the subject, which included a search for articles in international databases, it was found that there
is a lot of discussion about the lack of accessibility in the school environment. As proof of this hypothesis raised by scholars, an accessibility report was prepared for the campus of the Federal Institute of Alagoas in the municipality of Palmeira dos Índios, this is the technical tool indicated to uncover accessibility problems in built-up spaces. The report confirmed the presence of several accessibility problems and, to solve them, a series of necessary changes was indicated. The entire report was carried out following an accessible route traced by the researcher. A search for patents was also carried out for assistive technology elements used in an accessible route to be used in the traced route. This prospecting for patents was carried out on a national and international basis and will also serve to support the construction of the booklet. It was concluded that many professionals are unaware of the minimum design requirements for accessibility and that many schools, as well as their surroundings, do not offer adequate access.
