Feasibility study of the registration of the Collective Trademark of the Singeleza income of Alagoas, and its potential for Geographical Indication
Singeleza laces; collective mark; geographical indication; Alagoas
The authorship and origin of any production or service from a given region must be duly identified and recognized as its Intellectual Property. To this end, Geographical Indications (GI) are means that are intended to protect, in a specific way, the products of a region in refutation of false indications of origin and justification, making it duly re-cognized. Thus, about a specific GI portrayed, there is the Singeleza lace, which is a lace technique of Brzilian craftsmanship, made with an extremely delicate needle, net and tiny meshes that, when laced, form designs. Through the Singeleza lace, several artisanal productions arise, such as women's clothing and domestic confec-tions, however, this technique, which is so old in Brazil, is in decline in the state of Alagoas, due to the expansion of the industrial lace market. In this way, the present Course Conclusion Work aims to discuss the feasibility of registering the Collective Mark of income in Alagoas, and prepare for a possible future request for a Geographical Indication of origin, in view of the possibilities arising from the risk of disappearance of the technique. This was prepared based on the search for bibliographic materials in virtual databases as well as based on the knowledge glimpsed in visits to places of production of Singeleza lace.
