Spin-Off for the Transfer of Technologies of Bioactive Pharmaceuticals: A Case Study of Rubian Extractos Company
Academic Spin-Off, Innovation System, Technology Transfer.
We can consider an entrepreneurial university that which, in carrying out its research, manages knowledge that allows the generation of new technologies to develop business models for the economic exploitation of its discoveries, thus solving the research problem and enabling the generation of economic impact through the commercialization of new products, thus contributing to the development of society. Based on this, this research aims to investigate the case of the company RubianExtratos, a spin-off fromUnicamp, and understand the path taken to complete the innovation cycle. The results showed us that for this to happen there must be a systemic process involving the university; represented by Unicamp, which transferred three technologies to the company; the government, through the State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), which, through the Innovative Research in Small Businesses (PIPE) program, financed the development of two technologies up to the testing phase; and also from the interaction of the company itself, which managed to launch the third technology, already in its final stage, as an innovative product in the market. In this way, Rubian generates jobs, income and contributes to the socioeconomic development not only of its region, but of the country as a whole.
