SUMMARY:

The following master's qualification presents the results obtained in research on the use of ozone in the prevention and treatment of mastitis in dairy cows. The research aimed to compile and analyze the existing information on the use of ozone in the prevention and treatment of mastitis in dairy cows. All of this in order to understand the fundamentals of the use of ozone in livestock and its potential use as a treatment, and thus one can face a battle against the microbial resistance that has become stronger in recent decades. To carry out this research, a literature review was carried out, where information about this area, which is still under development, was sought and analyzed, and the evaluation of possible techniques for carrying out the research. A technological prospecting was also carried out with the objective of having a clearer picture of the research area and the necessary investments to define guidelines based on the most up-to-date and most commonly used technologies. With all this knowledge base established, an experiment was carried out in which it was sought to demonstrate the efficiency of the use of ozonated solutions in the treatment of clinical mastitis in dairy cows. For which a cow who had clinical mastitis in two quarters was treated with an ozonated solution (10 ml of total solution, 5 ml of ozonated sunflower oil plus 5 ml of ozonated saline at a concentration of 12mg / ml), this treatment was compared to a commercially used commercial antibiotic treatment (Masticine L).
