Evaluation of hematological and histopathological profiles of adults of Danio rerio (Zebrafish) exposed to extracts of psychotria capitata Ruiz & Pav. (Rubiaceae) in an experimental model zebrafish (danio rerio).
Anesthesia. Histology. leukogram.
Studies carried out with zebrafish (Danio rerio) have produced, in recent years, numerous works aimed at understanding the hematological and histopathological changes in post-exposure to substances. The present study carried out the evaluation of toxicological, behavioral, hematological and histopathological parameters resulting from post-exposure of adult zebrafish to fractions of Psichotria capitata extracts (25µg/mL; 50µg/mL, 100µg/mL, 250µg/mL, 1000µg/mL). With the following results of LC50 217.95 with a 95% confidence interval of 114.41 and 321.5 and mg/L respectively, In adults, the behavioral parameters of locomotion: Float ↑(FL) (X2(4)= 11.52; p=0.02), Inclined swimming ↑(NI) (X2(4)=6.99; p=0.01) and air breathing ↑(ras) (X2(4)=7.04; p= 0.01) showed statistical significance by the Kruskall Wallis thesis with Dunn post hoc adjusted by “bonferroni” correction, regarding hematological parameters only total leukocytes (F=(4.11)=3.06,p=0.00411) the post hoc HSD tukey with “bonferroni” correction showed that there were only significant differences between the control group and the 250mg/L treatment and as histopathological changes hyperplasia of lamellar cells of the gills was observed. We believe that the results found will help to define the adult zebrafish as a model animal in research with enormous potential for drug screening studies and experimental toxicity tests, validating possible drugs from plants of the Brazilian flora based on the effects found.
