SUMMARY:

Health surveillance emerged from the need to reformulate the current health care model and reorient the organization of health care, including new participants such as health professionals and the population, in addition to inserting the social determinants of health, both individual and collective. The new proposal brings a redirection to the promotion, prevention and recovery of health, based on intersectoral actions and the creation of healthy public policies. Health surveillance, according to the Ministry of Health, refers to "the continuous and systematic process of collecting, consolidating, analyzing data and disseminating information about health-related events, aiming at the planning and implementation of public health measures, including the regulation, intervention and action on health conditions and determinants, for the protection and promotion of the population's health, prevention and control of risks, injuries and diseases.” The objective of the study was to characterize how primary care and surveillance professionals in health comprise the integrated work of services. This is a quantitative, descriptive and exploratory study, using an online Google Forms® questionnaire with professionals at the Health Department of the city of Arapiraca/AL and at a UBS in the same city.
