SUMMARY:

The scientific advances and the decisive contributions of each piece of research, in the most diverse areas of knowledge, to improving life in society are significant. In the Brazilian context, federal public universities are exponents in the production of science. In contemporary times, these institutions and their faculty researchers have become the targets of disinformation processes, especially on social networks, through discourses that attack the validity of academic studies carried out in these organizational environments. Given this scenario, the general objective of this study is to find out what the perception of the teaching staff at the Federal University of Alagoas is in relation to scientific dissemination, given that this activity has the potential to dialog with the public about the research produced in these epistemic spaces. Its specific objectives are to verify what researchers understand by science communication; to identify whether they participate or are interested in participating in science communication activities, in the institution's media or by other means; and to examine how they assess the social relevance of the activity. This is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach, using theoretical references and documentary research. Data will be collected using an online questionnaire, which will be analyzed and interpreted. The research universe is made up of permanent teaching staff at the Federal University of Alagoas. The sample will be selected from the respondents.
