The role of university in encouraging innovation: proposed source of information on technology-based companies
Technology-based company. Source of information. Innovation. Information management. Information mediation.
Universities are favorable environments for the emergence of Technology Based Companies, equipped with professionals trained to assist the academic community in the development of innovative technological ventures and strategic initiatives aimed at encouraging and promoting the growth and insertion of these businesses in the market. However, many Brazilian universities do not have specialized electronic information sources related to these types of companies, born on their premises, thus making it difficult to organize and access essential information about such institutions for society, which contributes at the same time. for the invisibility of products and services produced through scientific knowledge and technological processes of the institutional body. In this sense, this research aims to propose the creation of an electronic information source that systematizes and disseminates information generated by technology-based companies from federal universities in the Northeast Region. This is a descriptive case study, with a qualitative approach, in the federal universities of Alagoas, Pernambuco and Sergipe. It was found that, despite the universities in the Northeast presenting initiatives inclined towards the development of Technology-Based Companies, such as incubators, technological centers and entrepreneurship centers, they do not have an electronic information source to organize and mediate information for society. In this way, the creation of an information source would promote the visibility and management of these innovative businesses, with developers and managers prioritizing the creation of a barrier-free virtual interface, capable of enabling good utility, interaction, usability, accessibility and security. information by the user.
